Q:   What is the difference between a Weekly Class and a Walk-In Workshop?

A:   A Weekly Class is a class that meets for one hour every week.  Weekly classes are held Monday thru Friday from 3:30 p.m.-7 p.m.  These classes are part of our ongoing programs, meaning they meet every week throughout the academic year (from August-May).  Students must pay a registration fee of $25 and enroll in a class to attend.  Monthly tuition is required to attend weekly classes.


A Walk-In Workshop is a workshop that is a stand-alone event that is approx. two hours long. Students do not have to pay a registration fee.  The Walk-In Workshop fee may be paid when the student simply “walks-in” to attend. However, we do allow students to pre-pay for the workshop, in order to hold their place.  Seating is limited to the first 15-20 students depending on the workshop.  We have many different “Walk-in Workshops” throughout the year. Workshop topics and projects will vary.  Workshop fees are usually $30-$40 depending on the materials required.  

Q:   My child is attending a weekly class.  Do I have to stay in the building while they are in class?

A:   No.  Once you have dropped off your child safely, we’ll take it from there! Feel free to shop, eat, or run errands until it is time to pick-up your child.  If you want to stay in the building and wait, you are welcome to get comfy in the Parents’ Lounge until class is over.

Q:   My child is attending a Walk-In Workshop.  Do I have to stay in the building while they are in the workshop?

A:   No.  Once you have dropped off your child safely, we’ll take it from there! Feel free to shop, eat, or run errands until it is time to pick-up your child.  If you want to stay in the building and wait, you are welcome to get comfy in the Parents’ Lounge until the workshop is over.

Q:   I am bringing my child to have fun learning during Open Discovery Hours.  Do I have to stay with them?

A:   YES, YES, and YES!! While we allow parents to drop-off students for Weekly Classes and Walk-In Workshops, we DO NOT allow parents to leave children unattended during Open Discovery Hours. We require an adult aged 18 or older accompany your child at all times.

Q:   Why can’t I just drop off my child during Open Discovery hours?

A:   Safety is a top priority for us.  During classes and workshops, we have sign-in sheets and detailed information about your child.  Our instructors know the children they are responsible for during class or workshop times.  During Open Discovery, we have a more laid back, come-and-go atmosphere.  Therefore, we cannot effectively keep track of students who have just “dropped in.” 

Q:   Does my child have to be enrolled in any classes at Central Creativity in order to have his birthday there?   

A:   No.  We would be thrilled to host your child’s party even if he doesn’t currently attend any of our classes. 

Q:   Is there free Wi-Fi?

A:   Yes. Central Creativity has free Wi-Fi throughout the building.

Q:   Can I take pictures?

A:   Absolutely! We encourage you to take pictures and share them on our social media sites.   

Q:   Do you offer weekly classes on Saturdays?

A:   No.  Our weekly class offerings are Monday-Friday from 3:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. We do, however, have Walk-In Workshops that are sometimes offered on Saturdays.  Check out our events calendar for what’s coming up. 

Q:   My child isn’t doing very well in math.  Can I send him to a S.T.E.A.M. class with his homework to get help?   

A:   No. We do not provide individual homework help during any of our weekly classes.  However, our S.T.E.M. classes may ultimately improve your child’s math skills through innovative approaches and Thinking Maps® instruction that he may not be receiving in the regular classroom.  We do offer private tutoring sessions where your child could receive one-on-one instruction and homework help in academic areas.

Q:   Are your classes just for students who are having difficulty in school?

A:   Absolutely not! Our classes benefit gifted students, struggling students, and all students in between.

Q:   Thinking Maps® seem to be really helping my child.  Can adults learn them too?           

A:   Yes!  Thinking Maps® are visual tools that are for lifelong learning. We offer trainings throughout the year for parents who would like a Thinking Maps® Language for Learning Manual and more extensive training.  Please see our Parents and Teachers link for more information. 

Q:   Can I bring my child in anytime and attend a weekly class?

A:   While we would love to have your child join our family of innovative thinkers, we don’t allow students to walk-in without registering first.  Simply put, there is a lot of planning involved in each of our classes, and we want to make sure we have enough supplies for everybody. Signing up is super easy, we have a few forms to fill out (either online or mail in to us), and if the class isn’t full, you will be good to go!

Q:   What do you do in the event of a weather-related emergency?

A:   We will follow the same schedule for inclement weather as Jones County Schools.  If they are closed, we will be closed as well. If your child is attending a class during an unexpected emergency, we will round all the students up and go to the safe area in our building.

Q:   Can you pick up and drop off my children for me?

A:   We currently do not offer pick up/drop off services.

Q:  Why should I send my children to more school, after they have spent the entire day in school?

A:   Although your children will be learning while they are here, they certainly won’t feel they are going to “school.”  They might be constructing bridges on the floor, performing an originally written skit on stage, or plating their latest culinary creation. Our innovative teaching approaches mean that we address all learning styles as our students are happily engaged in learning through activity, laughter, and FUN! 

Q:   What exactly is brain-based learning?

A:   Great question! Brain-based learning is instructional methodology that is based on the latest scientific research about how the brain learns. In other words, instruction is crafted to stimulate cognitive development, creativity, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and most importantly, critical thinking. It is a proven fact that students learn differently as they age, grow, and mature socially, emotionally, and cognitively. Shouldn't the way that we teach take these factors into consideration? We think so too!

Q:   Can I book your party room (birthday party) for my child’s party without booking a theme?  

A:   Yes.  If you would like to hold your child’s party at Central Creativity and don’t want to use any of our themes, just let us know.  It is possible for us to coordinate with you on a plan of activities set up throughout the facility that do not connect to a specific theme.  The regular party rate and available times will apply.  

Q:   Is there any limit to how many classes my child can take?

A:   No. In addition, we offer Class Passes that provide significant discounts on attendance for multiple classes. Click on the link below to learn more about our Class Pass options.

Q:   Do you offer bulk group discounts if I send multiple children from the same family to class together?

Q:   Do you offer group discounts for Open Discovery hours?

A:   Yes. We offer a special rate of $10 per child for admission to Open Discovery.  Please click on the Field Trip link below to learn more about visiting with a group.

Q:   How many homeschool groups will occupy the building at the same time?

A:   We only host one homeschool group at a time so that we are able to individualize the programming for each group.  As a result, we do fill up quickly and it is important to reserve homeschool days for your group as soon as possible.

Q:   Will you have other training occurring while our homeschool group is in the building?

A:   No. When we host a homeschool group, your group will have private use of our terrific learning space.   

Q:   How do I let you know that my child has food allergies?

A:   When you register your child for classes, we will have a detailed form to fill out that identifies any special dietary requirements.

Q:   What is the policy concerning my and my child’s privacy?

A:   We are fully committed to protecting your famiy's privacy. Please read our Privacy Policy to learn more.

Q:   Do you offer any continuing education classes for adults, or those out of high school?  

A:   We offer classes for adults at certain times throughout the year.  These classes take place after our regular school hours (after 7 p.m. M-F) or on Saturdays.  We do not have classes for adults when any classes for students aged 5-17 are taking place in the building.  

Q:   Hey, some of these classes look pretty neat.  Can I take these courses with my children?

A:   We sometimes have Walk-In Workshops that are designed for parents and children to come in and learn together.  Check our calendar of events for an upcoming “Learn Together” Workshop. 

Q:   Are you looking for interns or volunteers?

A:   We are always on the lookout for outgoing, energetic people to join our team!   We have opportunities for both high school and college internships.  Completing an internship with Central Creativity is an excellent way to gain valuable experience and build a college application portfolio and/or resume.  Working with us may also count as community service hours.  We are happy to complete any documentation necessary to help our interns receive educational credits.  Please click on the link below for an internship/volunteer application.

Q:   Do your classes count towards MS Accredited Coursework?

A:   No.  Our classes are designed to provide supplemental and enrichment learning opportunities that support academic goals.  Classes that meet one day per week cannot possibly the breadth and depth to fulfill MS Accredited High School course requirements.

Q:   I have an idea for a class that you should teach!  How do we get the process started?

A:   We welcome future programming suggestions to better help us serve the needs of our community.   Please call us or shoot us an email to discuss your request for a specific class.

Q:   I understand that you are always looking for guest instructors in specialized fields.  How do I find out whether I qualify?          

A:   Part of our vision is connecting the qualified professionals and talented teaching artists in our area with students who would benefit from their knowledge, dedication, and expertise.  If you are interested in joining us in making this happen, we would love to talk with you.  Please contact us by phone or email and let us know what you are interested in teaching. 

Q:   Do you offer some form of certification that my child has attended your courses?

A:   At the end of our academic year, we will hold a Central Creativity Showcase and Exhibition highlighting the students’ achievements.  At this time, we will present certificates and badges to our students to celebrate their accomplishments.  

Q:   Can you provide me with references vouching for your staff’s prior work performance and credibility?

A:   All of our staff members are highly qualified experts in their fields.  Furthermore, we conduct background and reference checks prior to employment.  We are happy to provide any documentation regarding their qualifications that you request. 

Q:   I don’t want to have to make monthly payments. Can I pay for my child’s weekly class by the  year?

A:   Yes.  We will accept payment in full for our academic calendar of weekly classes.

Q:   I signed my child up for music classes.  He doesn’t want to take piano anymore.  Can I get my money back?  

A:   Our registration fee of $25 is non-refundable. However, if your child no longer wants to take weekly classes, we understand.  We simply will need an email stating that your child would like to withdraw from class.  Until we receive a written request, we will still consider your child a student and tuition will be billed.  Because tuition is billed on a monthly basis, we do not offer refunds once a month of tuition has been paid.    

Q:   My child wants to take a class that is classified as “FULL” on the class calendar.  Can I still enroll my child for that class?

A:   If a class is full, your child may be placed on a waiting list.  We will let you know if space becomes available.  Waiting List students will be contacted in the order in which they signed-up.

Q:   What if my child misses a class? Will I get a refund?

A:   We do not give refunds for missed classes.  However, we will have a “Make-up” Day at the end of the year and any student who has missed a class may attend.

Q:   If I am visiting during Open Discovery time and I leave the building, can I come back in?

A:   Yes. You can come back in the building during the same day’s operating hours.  Be sure to keep your admission receipt.     

Q:   My child has a Class Pass. Does he get in at the discounted rate of $5.00 when visiting with his school for a Field Trip during Open Discovery Time?

A:   Although Class Pass holders do have a discounted admission price of $5.00 during Open Discovery Time, this does not apply to group visits.  When visiting with a group, regular group discounted admission fee will be applied to all students.         

Q:   What is a Class Pass?

A:  A Class Pass is our multi-class discount package.  Class Passes are a great chance to save     money on our weekly line-up of educational programming.  In addition to discounted class rates, Class Pass Holders have other benefits as well.  Purchasing a Class Pass gives a discount for enrolling in multiple classes and discounted admission for Open Discovery times.  We have Class Passes available for students in grades K-12.
