WHO WE ARE

Central Creativity is a dynamic, innovative learning facility that provides immersive instruction in art, music, drama, craft, science, culinary arts, math, engineering, technology, reading, and writing to students in grades PreK-12.

We are a strong community of devoted teaching professionals who strive to enhance and positively influence the lives of children across Mississippi by providing affordable programs and events that utilize innovative learning approaches.

Our mission of promoting critical and creative thinking, academic excellence, and artistic development is achieved by embedding Thinking Maps® in every aspect of our curriculum.

WHAT ARE THINKING MAPS®?

Thinking Maps® are eight brain-based visual tools that correspond to fundamental thinking processes and empower students to visually represent critical thinking.

Think about this...

As young children, we are taught the 26 letters of the alphabet. How is it that these 26 letters can be used throughout our lives?

The answer is simple.

We are building and increasing difficulty each time we use these 26 letters.

The same principle applies to using Thinking Maps®! Once the student learns each Map, the content that is put in each Map may gradually increase in difficulty, but the Maps stay the same.

HOW WE TEACH

Our students think on their feet. Literally.

Did you know that when children are talking and moving, they are activating their brains to learn?  However, in many formal educational settings, the student sits and the teacher talks. Our brains are wired to make the neurological connections necessary to retain information when we are engaged, motivated learners.  Unfortunately, many students are expected to acquire knowledge in an environment that does not support active learning.  In our classes, we reinforce academic content through kinesthetic, visual, and other sensory-rich activities that get students enthusiastic about the learning process. We think that deserves a standing ovation.

EXCEPTIONAL FACULTY

All members of our faculty are dedicated professionals

who employ a dynamic, energetic approach to teaching that sparks critical, creative, and imaginative thinking.  These highly qualified and experienced faculty members exhibit a broad scope of academic and artistic knowledge. They understand that when students feel overwhelmed, anxious, or uninterested, they will not develop to their full potential.  Our instructors' focus is to provide a learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, generate multiple solutions, and try new things.  In doing so, they equip students with invaluable skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.  Through their expertise and experience, our instructors provide a unique skillset that will help ensure the growth and vitality of the students they serve.
